Winter hacks for Healthy Skin

‘Seasons’ the biggest factor affecting our skin and health. What to do if its too cold and the skin drys up, what if its too hot and sweaty and the skin starts to burn, etc. etc. without actually knowing about it how to take care of it? Have you also been noticed with those white patches on your hand when scratched? those face that looks dry?

Then here we are with some winter hacks which can help you in keeping your skin healthy and good.

1.Drink & Eat Right
You must have always heard that drinking water is best for the skin. When it is cold outside we often forget to drink enough water throughout the day, but this is just when low humidity is most likely to strip our poor skin of its moisture. Drinking water is one of the best ways to keep skin hydrated in cold temperatures. This doesn’t mean that we gulp the water, taking sips throughout the day is the best way to keep it healthy. It’s not just water but also a healthy diet that includes seasonal fruit, berries, vitamins, and antioxidant-rich foods that should be incorporated avoiding too much junk and oily food. But irrespective of the season, drinking water and eating right is always best for your skin.

2.Lip Balms
This season your lips scream for a lip balm. Opt one of your favorite flavors to keep them well-moisturized. Applying a layer of lip balm before your lip color will also help your lips to stay hydrated. Usually, your lip color finish often leaves your lips dry, using a lip balm would minimize that effect.

3. Avoid Steamy Showers
It might be tempting to take a long, steamy shower, but your skin will be much better served with a 5-10 minutes lukewarm water shower or bath. Excessive use of hot water or the use of too hot water that turns your skin red and causes itching is also not good as it dehydrates your body and also strips of the necessary oils from your body.

4. Use the Right Cleanser
The use of Cream-based and fragrance-free cleansers are a better option to avoid drying of the skin. Also, dry skin in winter can lead to acne and itchy-inflamed skin. Cream-based cleansers leave a thin layer of hydration while cleansing, making it suitable for ones suffering from dehydrated skin.

5.Wear it Right
When it comes to clothing many cold-weather fabrics can aggravate dry winter skin. You should wear light layers made from soft, breathable materials like cotton directly against your skin and then pull on the heavier, warmer sweaters.
Pro tip – Changing wet clothes quickly helps to avoid itchy skin.

6. Use the Right Moisturiser
When the weather makes you feel so dry, it is advisable to use a water-based moisturizer after cleansing your face right. Irrespective of your skin type, light moisturizers help to hydrate your skin from within. Also, don’t wait for your skin to be dry after the shower to apply your moisturizer. 7.Exercise!
Yes, I know its hard to leave the warmth and coziness of the blanket on a chilly winter morning, but exercise should be done if you love your skin. it will pump up your heart rate, which in turn pumps more blood to your organ and skin.

8.Exfoliate
A glowing skin’s secret method is exfoliation. It will help to get rid of that dull and dead skin cells lingering on your body. Using a soft loofah should do the trick. you can also try some DIY exfoliating scrub recipes from the comfort of your home. For eg. Mixing sugar and coconut oil, oatmeal & Milk, Grounded coffee from a freshly brewed pot, etc.
